RE: I Don't Get It

Yeah, It's cool. It ceased to be about the bike, and is now about the people who post to the thread, their lives, experiences and stuff like that.

Just to set the record straight, we DO ride all year here in SUNNY Denver. We just can't ride every day. I could have rode today for example, but I wanted to drink my coffee.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Y'All is singular, All Y'All is plural. To "grease" means to eat well. You cut things ON and off in the South. Like light switches. "Cut that light on." If you order a Coke, they will ask you what kind, Pepsi, Coke, 7-Up? If you ask for a pop, they will look at you like you just asked them to hit you. You want a SODA instead. I don't know about Mississippi, but in Florida, and along the coasts of Alabama and in Georgia there aren't any no shirts, no shoes, no service signs. In the summer everyone is barefoot and shirtless. Well, the chicks still wear tops of some kind.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

What I remember being one of the best things about living down South was the food. Particularly breakfast. A couple of things to remember about southern food: 1. Don't ask too many questions about it's origins. 2. You eat grits with salt and butter, not milk and sugar. That's for Furina or Malt-O-Meal. Also, some sentances are one word, just like Jeff Foxworthy says. Did you eat? Becomes, "Geet?" Would you like some more? Becomes, "S'more?" Ect, ect. Anyone else have some southern survival tips for LionFan? Oh, learn the name Huey Long.

RE: Close Call's and Crashes!

My, so far, one and only wreck was 2000, July, about 7:30 pm heading East. My 8 year old son was on the back. I was wearing a tank top, shorts, and sandles. My ride was a 1994 Sportster 883 Hugger, with 10" baby apes. A car was stopped about 2 blocks up at the stop sign. She was heading South across my street. As I got closer, about a block away, she started to pull out. I was going maybe 30. I kept thinkg, "she sees me, she sees me." I was waiting for her to stop, but she didn't. I hit both brakes hard, went into a slide, turned into it to avoid going down, and slid right into the rear half of her little station wagon. I went over the ape hangars, breaking my arm in the process, and went head first into the rear door on the passenger side. I folded into the door, and slid down on to the pavement. I was conscious the whole time, at least it seemed to me, the passage of time got weird. I called out for my son, he was ok standing next to me asking if I was ok. The lady asked me too, and called an ambulance. If I tried to sit up I got nauseous. I went to the hospital, ended up with a double fracture of my right arm just above the wrist, a sprained ankle, and a concussion. I had a pretty much stock Sporty, as far as the wheels went. Tires were at that time, I think Dunlops. I needed a new front wheel, handlebars, front fender, and controls. I never got to see my bike wrecked. It went to the impound and insurance took care of it from there. It went to a friend's shop (Colorado Motor Company), and they took care of me. Insurance paid up right away. Since my right arm was broken, and I am right handed, I couldn't work, or do much at all. I ended up with a good settlement, but not without its' hassels. About a year later my girlfriend were riding the same litte street on the same bike when some douche ran a stop sign 2 blocks from my wreck. He was hauling ass, we missed him, she started yelling at him, we skidded to a stop, he stopped, got out and started apologising while we cussed at him. I have been dodging bullets ever since. I look at wheels now, not the whole car. It's easier for me to tell if they are moving by looking at the wheels. I learned a lot from that wreck. About insurance, drivers, things you can't really do with a broken dominant arm. Colorado has since dropped the "No Fault" insurance deal. That was a pain back then too.

RE: Totally confused

If you just do pipes, I don't think you need to change anything. But, if you change the intake, you need to change the fuel. Exhaust shouldn't change the fuel mixture, but of course changing how much air is let in will change the fuel mixture, and you will need to adjust the gasoline to keep the fuel/air ratio around 14:1. I could always be wrong.

RE: Would you buy a Harley from a foreign-owned MoCo?

If Harley's stock price continues to go as it has lately, we may actually get to buy a Harley from a foriegn owner.

RE: De-comp buttons...like you've never seen dem installed

Yeah, that would be high even for a V-8 engine. Diesels are in the, I don't even know, 20-30:1 range??? 11.5:1 is alot for an aircooled V-Twin. Does it run ok on premium?

RE: De-comp buttons...like you've never seen dem installed

What's the ratio 9:1 16:1? 160-165 psi is probably what those numbers mean. But, I don't know if that is alot or not.

If Harley put out better bikes because of foreign companies quality, then I couldn't imagine what Harleys would be like without the competition.
